MALDONADE, Irani Rodrigues. Errors in language acquisition process and pragmatic (in)flexibility: an interacionist reflection. Lingüística [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.2, pp.85-103. Epub 01-Dic-2019. ISSN 2079-312X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20190019.
This article analyzes some errors produced by two Brazilian children between two and four years old, related to lexical and linguistic expressions acquisition. The traditional conception of language as communication, found in some works with a pragmatics focus in their analyses, is here questioned. The work adopts, instead, an Interactionist perspective (De Lemos 1982, 1992, 2002), which does not conceive language only as a social, purely instrumental tool, and attempts to account for the pragmatic flexibility observed in children’s speech.
The results of this analysis indicate rather that language must be “captured” in its unstable relationship of interiority and exteriority in dialogue. Errors in children’s speech show that they do not necessarily take the same “referential domain” already crystallized by the uses of adult language. Children are able to establish their own axis of provisional relations, showing traces of subject’s singularity along language acquisition process.
