BRISOLARA, Luciene Bassols; MATZENAUER, Carmen Lúcia Barreto y SEARA, Izabel Christine. THE SPANISH VOWEL /a/ IN NASAL CONTEXT AND ITS PRODUCTION BY BRAZILIANS. Lingüística [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.1, pp.11-34. Epub 01-Jun-2019. ISSN 2079-312X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20190002.
This research aimed to investigate the acquisition of the vowel /a/ of the Spanish language, in nasal context, by Brazilian students. For this investigation, data were collected from six students of a Letters Course with emphasis in Portuguese-Spanish, and six native Spanish women. The data were submitted to an acoustic analysis and compared with those found in the literature for Portuguese and Spanish. The vowel /aN/ in the CVN context, in which there is no vowel nasalization, and in the NVN or VN context, in which there is nasalization, manifests itself as a nasal vowel in Brazilian productions, while in Uruguayan productions it manifests as oral. The results suggest that the Brazilian women use their LM. This was evidenced by the values presented by F1 and F3. Regarding the total absolute duration, the vowel /aN/ was always greater than the vowel /a/ in the data of the Brazilian learners of Spanish and also of the Uruguayan ones
