Abstract

FERRARI, Lilian  and  ANDRADE, Helen de. SUBJETIVIDADE E CONECTIVOS CAUSAIS NO PORTUGUÊS BRASILEIRO. Lingüística [online]. 2015, vol.31, n.1, pp.111-125. ISSN 2079-312X.

This paper draws on Cognitive Linguistics, and more specifically on Mental Spaces Theory (Fauconnier 1994, 1997; Fauconnier et al. 2002), in order to investigate causal connectives in Brazilian Portuguese. The research aims at describing and explaining the cognitive processes associated to the establishment of causal relations by the connectives portanto, por isso and consequentemente, taking as its starting point the Sanders et al. (2009) paper on Dutch causal connectives. Thus, based on the notions of Basic Communicative Spaces Network (BCSN) and Subject of Consciousness (SdC), it is claimed that the causal connectives under investigation may be ranked along a scale of subjectivity, which takes into account the presence of an actor or concluder in causal relations represented in different mental spaces built up during ongoing discourse

Keywords : mental spaces; subjectivity; causal connectives.
