Abstract

DE CONTO, Ferdinando et al. Osteoma periférico en ángulo mandibular: relato del casoPeripheral osteoma of the mandibular angle: report of a case. Odontoestomatología [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.22, pp.64-70. ISSN 1688-9339.

Peripheral osteomas of the mandible are rare, benign tumors of bone, consisting of well-differentiated mature bone, slow-growing and asymptomatic to the patient. Although osteomas are characteristic findings in Gardner’s Syndrome, nonsyndromic cases are typically solitary. The pathogenesis of peripheral osteomas is still controversial. They are referred to true neoplasms or as either developmental abnormalities and are attributed to several factors as traumatisms and inflammations. The purpose of this article is to present a case of an osteoma of angle left mandibular, in a 30-year-old man, that seek treatment for a slowly enlarging submandibular. Treatment was by surgical excision and histological examination. The patient remains free of recurrence and other complications after 8 years

Keywords : osteoma; neoplasm; benign tumor.
