Technological advances have influenced medical practice radically, taking special importance in last decades “Information and Communications Technologies”, facilitating the emergence of a new mode: “remote care”, often called telemedicine, in our case has had a more recent development in teledentistry. Our aim is to review concepts, history, fields of application and documented experiences around the world, legal considerations, as well to propose some applications and future projections of teledentistry. Overall, we found a positive, though small, teledentistry development in various forms, has increased in recent years, overcoming initial clinical and legal questionings. Improvement and development of new technologies and a creative attitude from dentists will be the main substrates for the expansion of this practice
