After the pioneering contributions of Ubaldino Morales in 1920, very little is researched and published on the history of dentistry in Uruguay and developments that took their studies.These were mostly anecdotal publications, repetition of the work of Morales or statistical compilations. As exceptions we can mention the two excellent works of the Argentinian Diego Bagur and the History of Dentistry, Alberto Fernandez, an extensive investigation frustrated with the publication of a disordered structure and wording confusing.For the current research work in archives and libraries of the Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine, University of the Republic, the Maciel Hospital, the National Library, the Legislative Palace and the Municipality of Montevideo, seeking access to original documents. Both the MSP and in the National History Museum, not achieve esults.Given the vastness of the subject is divided it into three parts, using some highlights of these developments:  1. From the Colonial Era to the creation of the School of Dentistry 2. Since the creation of the School until the creation of the Faculty of Dentistry 3. The road to the building
