Abstract

LAGO MARTINEZ, Silvia; GALA, Romina  and  SAMANIEGO, Flavia. Virtual education: narratives of teachers and students at the University of Buenos Aires post-pandemic. Cuad. Investig. Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.15, n.2, e206.  Epub Dec 01, 2024. ISSN 1510-2432.  https://doi.org/10.18861/cied.2024.15.2.3756.

The acceleration of the digitalization process in universities during the pandemic led to the reconfiguration of educational practices, new languages, and ways of distributing information and knowledge in the hybridization of digital platforms. This article presents the results of research developed in the post-pandemic period, which recovers the experiences of teachers and students of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) during the social isolation and places them in dialogue with the return to face-to-face interaction. The objective is to identify and understand the meanings teachers and students attribute to their educational practices, emphasizing sociability and affective bonds developed on the platforms. Methodologically, we analyze an empirical corpus built from qualitative techniques: in-depth interviews with university teachers and focus groups of students. We conclude that both teachers and students revalue the face-to-face modality, although they appreciate learning in virtual environments and the possibility of having hybrid classes. However, it is observed that the classical educational matrix continues to be hegemonic in our university. All in all, the debate on the university's future and challenges is present in the educational community as it seeks to recognize itself as the builder of a university in transformation.
