Resumen

GAMBETTA, Marcelo. Education strategies developed in a state corporate environment in Uruguay. Cuad. Investig. Educ. [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.2, pp.71-88. ISSN 1510-2432.

This research work aimed at analyzing whether corporate training strategies developed in a Uruguayan State company were able to achieve behavioral change in their staff members to reach both meaningful individual and organizational learning. The questions that the research sought to answer were: How education plans were aligned with corporate objectives? Was education systematically developed, or was it occasional? What were the methods used to conduct corporate education? How was the impact of the training measured? To perform the study, a qualitative research was proposed. These were the main conclusions of the study: The courses offering was varied, directed to different ways of teaching, and oriented to any kind of employee. Little would be known of the company's strategic objectives. Training would modify attitudes and behaviors, although this would depend primarily on each individual. The behavioral change would be mainly reflected at a level of group work and human interaction. There would be no formal support mechanisms to encourage the training of company employees, especially in behavioral courses. There would be scarce instrumentation for the measurement of the impact of training. Although participants would apply the knowledge provided, many would train for personal development, not intending to use such knowledge in the company. The enrollment mechanism for courses would not be entirely appropriate. The organization would provide both an enabling education and a situated learning for participants, although the training provided and the organizational environment would not be aligned enough as to apply the knowledge received. The company wouldn’t promote knowledge management.
