FIGUEIRO, Martha  and  DIMENSTEIN, Magda. Mental health and care network for families suffering from drug use problems in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Psicol. Conoc. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.1, pp.77-97.  Epub June 01, 2020. ISSN 1688-7026.  https://doi.org/10.26864/pcs.v10.n1.4.

This research aimed to analyze how the mental health network has operated care for families suffering from problems related to drug use. CAPS specializing in care for Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS AD) is the gateway to mental health care. For that, a qualitative research was carried out. Two families with very different social characteristics participated in the research. The two families targeted for this study have a clear relationship of distance from public mental health services, each for different reasons. It was possible to observe that the dynamics of care for people suffering from problems related to drug use and, consequently, to the family, is not based on some principles that are fundamental. One is the uniqueness of drug use and its effects. In addition, the characteristics of the context of life should not be overlooked in understanding the problems related to use, as well as the strategies linked to the intersectoral support network, material resources, among others, that must be taken into account to operate a an effective and respectful model of care, in the perspective of completeness.
