Abstract
ALTENBERND, Bibiana and KOTHER MACEDO, Mônica. Rigor and sensitivity: singular demands of nursing care in the context of urgency and emergency. Psicol. Conoc. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.1, pp.9-32. Epub June 01, 2020. ISSN 1688-7026. https://doi.org/10.26864/pcs.v10.n1.1.
This article presents a qualitative research that aimed at understanding nurses’ work experience in the urgency and emergency context in a hospital in the South of Brazil. Through Interpretive Analysis Method, we analyzed semi-directed interviews conducted with eight nurses participating in the study. The analyses attested the existence of different modalities of labor rhythms that compose the experience of care and the institutional implication, both in the appreciation of the exerted work and in the recognition of the pertinence of the care to be directed to caregivers. Aspects related to the required technical qualification and the singular conditions of workers are explored in the participants’ narratives. It is concluded that the effective implementation of implicit conditions to mutual care is essential in order to shelter the professional singularity.
