The digital inclusion of older groups poses challenges in contemporary societies. In the context of the Uruguay launch of the Ibirapitá Plan, framed in policies of digital inclusion, it is essential to deepen the understanding of the different aspects involved in the issue. This article presents diverse approaches and themes from the review of recent papers in congresses and publications in Latin American and Spanish scientific journals. It surveys the main lines of investigation, looking for elements that contribute to the double challenge of favoring processes of appropriation both in the instrumental dimension and in Some themes are highlighted here in relation to the double challenge presented above: the uses of ICT and generational differences, ICT as a personal, family and social opportunity; the benefits they can bring in relation to communication, information, productivity, leisure, learning, and autonomy; the barriers and enabling factors that influence the use or non-use, from socio-demographic, motivational, and life experience variables, to age-related difficulties (cognitive, sensory, motor); the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a framework for different studies, and the appropriation of ICTs for empowerment, among others.the construction of meaning on ICT by the elderly.
