Resumen

VILLAR BOULLOSA, Patricia. Psychoanalysis as an alternative to hypermodernity. Psicol. Conoc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.6, n.2, pp.243-258. ISSN 1688-7026.

We’re living in hypermodern times. Or actually running in them! In this Hypermodernity described by Lipovetsky in Western societies, contemporary subjectivities live at an accelerated pace, suffer at an accelerated pace and seek to shake off such suffering before even feeling it. Everyday life’s vertigo produces individuals who run away from pain to numb themselves in the hyperconsumption of goods, substances, sex or the internet. What place does psychoanalysis have in this new set of circumstances? The following paper is an invitation to a journey, from a Freudian point of view and in dialogue with Lipovetsky and other authors, across the main challenges faced by psychoanalysis today, eventually repositioning this centenary practice as a valuable alternative to the hypermodern turmoil.

Palabras clave : Psychoanalysis; Freud; Hypermodernity.
