Abstract

BLEZIO, Cecilia. The place of academic writing in higher education: lecturers’s perceptions on difficulties encountered and devices used. Psicol. Conoc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.6, n.2, pp.109-134. ISSN 1688-7026.

Historically, the university has been the institution in charge of the production of knowledge and the training of researchers par excellence. It is within the framework on hypermodernity, and in relation to a theory of teaching, that the question about the place of academic writing at degree level at Universidad de la República arises, in times of a hypermodernity. In order to enquire into this matter, we analyse 23 degree courses, in seven university services in the field of what we name as “the area of the humanities and the human and social sciences”. This article presents part of the data gathered in interviews to university lecturers for my Master´s thesis El texto académico en la formación de grado. Una indagación en el área de las humanidades y las ciencias humanas y sociales de la Universidad de la República (Blezio, 2015). The interviews aimed at describing what they understand by academic text and how they approach/teach it in their degree courses.

Keywords : university teaching; academic text.
