This article seeks to bring the discussion on the problem of theoretical breakthrough in the thinking of Marx. The controversy centers around reading the works of Marx, continuity of thought and existing differential aspects between works of youth and maturity of the German author. The best-known thesis concerning the theoretical breakdown of Marx, its nature, timing and depth, belongs to Althusser (1967). The controversy and implications drawn from the work of Althusser, are an integral part of this work, which broadly seeks to outline a critical assessment of this position.
