Abstract

REGINA, Pinho. Characterization of the clientele of a psychological treatment program for university students. Psicol. Conoc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.6, n.1, pp.114-130. ISSN 1688-7026.

This article aims to characterize the reason or complaints of clientele of a Psychological Counseling Program Midwest Santa Catarina, offered free to students enrolled in undergraduate courses at the University of the West of Santa Catarina. It is a documentary survey of 102 subjects enrolled in the program records in question in 2011 considering the following variables: gender, age, college education and reason for consultation. It was found that most academics seeking care is predominantly in the health field, in terms of gender also dominates the female, age group represents between 21-25 years and the main complaints are deficits in social skills, followed by depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. Based on data found we realize the importance of this type of service in universities as well as the need to start thinking specifically the university population aiming at health promotion and prevention in this population.
