BARROS, Antonio Teixeira de  y  CAMPOS FILHO, José Raymundo Ribeiro. Youth and Legislature: evaluations of young Brazilians about municipal, state and federal parliamentary institutions. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.2, pp.37-65.  Epub 01-Dic-2023. ISSN 0797-9789.  https://doi.org/10.26851/rucp.32.2.2.

This article analyzes evaluations of young Brazilians about legislative institutions (city councils, state legislative assemblies and the National Congress). Data from an electronic questionnaire with 1,006 informants are used. The main aspect evaluated is the reputation of the institutions. The first hypothesis is based on the assumption that the reputation of the National Congress is the worst in the youth perception, due to the continuous negative exposure in the media. The second is the argument that young adults -24 to 29 years old- are the most critical of legislative institutions. The results reveal massive rejection and disapproval of legislative institutions. However, the disapproval of the National Congress is greater, confirming the hypotheses.

Palabras clave : youth and politics; democratic generation; political socialization; Brazilian legislature branch.
