Abstract

SORIA, Luciana. Perspectives and challenges of plebeian republicanisms in Hispano-America. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.1, pp.53-78.  Epub June 01, 2023. ISSN 0797-9789.  https://doi.org/10.26851/rucp.32.1.3.

Starting from the republican interpretation of Antoni Domènech and the criticisms María Julia Bertomeu made about the ideal political philosophy approaches; it investigates the weaknesses of the notion of non-domination of neo-republicanism contains to capture structural injustices. Then, this researcher presents what is understood as continuities or effects of Domènech and Bertomeu’s criticisms in recent works by Spanish-American republican researchers who aspire to take a non-ideal methodological position located in what are understood to be coordinates of Latin American reality. Finally, some aspects in which they converge and the challenges are exposed, which, following the analysis of these theorists, seem to be recognized as expected for a plebeian republican researcher program that aspires to forge theoretical tools to analyze the structural injustices of our region.

Keywords : neo-republicanism-plebeian; republicanism; no domination; non-ideal approaches.
