Abstract

HERNANDEZ CARBALLIDO, Marcos. What is antipolitics?. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.1, pp.9-29.  Epub June 01, 2023. ISSN 0797-9789.  https://doi.org/10.26851/rucp.32.1.1.

This essay aims to discuss the notion of anti-politics. Although the term is frequently used, its use is often associated with other notions from which it is not easy to distinguish it. The intention is to reflect on the concept and discuss its scope and relationship with other notions. The thesis that is intended to be argued is that anti-politics is the antithesis of the peaceful management of the conflict and the difference in the framework of unequal and plural societies, which in its extreme forms, enables the annihilation of the other as a solution to the conflict. In this sense, it is incompatible with democracy. The paper concludes by suggesting some questions and possible lines of research.

Keywords : Anti-politics; depoliticization; impolitics; post-politics.
