Abstract

BENTANCUR, Nicolás  and  MANCEBO, María Ester. Education and professional insertion of the graduates in Political Science of the University of the Republic: between the historical legacy and the challenges to the future. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.2, pp.27-53. ISSN 0797-9789.  https://doi.org/https://doi.org/10.26851/rucp.v26n2.2.

This article focuses on undergraduate education in Political Science in Universidad de la República (UdelaR) through a comparative approach that uses collected data on BAs in Political Science (154) in twelve Ibero-American countries. Furthermore, the study brings up the evaluation made by political scientists and their employers on education and professional work in this field, and identifies its strengths and weaknesses. The article assumes a “mixed” conception on curricula with emphasis on both contents and skills and applies a historical approach on curricula development.

Keywords : undergraduate education in Political Science; political scientists’ professional work; political science in Ibero-america.
