Abstract

SCROLLINI, Fabrizio  and  LANDONI, Pablo. Education and public information: Perspectives to increase transparency in the education system. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.1, pp.131-146. ISSN 1688-499X.

In the last five years Uruguay started a cycle of structural reforms in several areas, sectorial such as the reform of the education system and cross-cutting, such as the new access to public information policy. In this article we aim to explore how access to public information regulation impacts the education system in terms of social and horizontal accountability. We argue that the provision of public information about the Uruguayan education system should not be seen as a problem, but as an opportunity to improve its performance
