Summary The aim of this work was to evaluate the clinical oral efficacy in dogs of two different single doses (20 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg) of a controlled release (CR) Ricobendazole (RBZ) based formulation formulated within a lipid matrix of Cetyl Alcohol and compare it with those of one single dose RBZ immediate release (IR) formulation (20 mg/kg) and one Albendazole (ABZ) IR formulation (25 mg/kg) (3 consecutive doses q/24 h). Thirty naturally parasitised dogs with Ancylostoma caninum and Trichuris sp were randomly allocated to five groups (n=6). A pair-sample t- Test (p<0.05) and a Kruskall-Wallis - Test posthoc: Mann-Whitney (p<0.05) were performed. The potency and the minimum effective dose of RBZ could be related to the high clinical efficacy observed against the gastrointestinal parasite species after the administration of 10 mg/kg. More pharmakinetics assays in order to determine the bioavailabity of RBZ in dogs after the administration of the mentioned dose would be required. No adverse reactions or toxicity were observed in the animals after the administration of the different treatments
