Resumen

BARROS, Magela et al. Exposure to CS gas: Case Study. Arch. Med Int [online]. 2014, vol.36, n. 2, pp.75-78. ISSN 0250-3816.

Ortho-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS) is included as a “tear gas”. CS exposure usually occurs during its use as a riot control agent as well as specialized forces squad training. Toxic action is exerted through an irritating effect on skin and mucosa, as well as immunoallergic mechanisms. We report a case of a 24 years old patient, member of a riot squad, who presented with skin lesions after CS smoke and dust granade exposure during training exercises. The clinical presentation showed peculiar characteristics related to skin manifestations, location and severity. Pathogenesis of the skin lesions possible mechanisms involved, differential diagnosis and CS gas exposure management are analyzed.

Palabras clave : CS gas; Exposure; Skin lesions.
