SILVARINO, Ricardo y NOBOA, Oscar. Preoperative management of non cardiac surgery patients for the prevention of kidney injury. Arch. Med Int [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.3, pp.59-64. ISSN 0250-3816.
The patients that undergo general surgery present acute kidney failure (AKF) more frequently than patients admitted for other causes. There are multiple per operative factors that predict the development of AKF. There are several potentially avoidable deleterious noxas in the context of general surgery that increase the likelihood of renal injury. The use of contrast, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, nephrotoxic drugs for colonoscopy and hypovolemia are among the most frequent. The presence of ARI is a risk factor for further development of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Some of the above topics are reviewed, highlighting some practical issues
