Resumen

SILVARINO, Ricardo et al. Disseminated Skin Herpes Zoster in a patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Arch. Med Int [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.1, pp.22-24. ISSN 0250-3816.

Disseminated cutaneous herpes zoster (HZCD) is a potentially severe infection of the immunocompromised patient, its presentation is unusual in healthy people. Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) have doubled the risk of herpetic infections in comparison with control population of same age and sex. Its diagnosis and treatment reduces mortality and the presence of severe complications. We report a case of a patient with rheumatoid arthritis who presented HZCD. Advanced age, presence of medical comorbidity, rheumatoid arthritis, deterioration of functional status measured by HAQ and use of corticosteroids are risk factors for developing HZ. There is no evidence that the use of methotrexate as a risk factor for development this complication.

Palabras clave : Disseminated Cutaneous Herpes Zóster; Rheumatoid Arthritis; Prednisone, Methotrexate.
