Heart failure (HF) is a great health problem because of it growing prevalence, high morbimortality and higher costs. HF management is, sometimes, difficult with higher number of elderly patients and higher ratio of comorbidities. They are prescribed polypharmacy and are controlled by many specialist getting themselves into confusion with lower adherence to medical indications and, therefore, higher hospitalizations for HF symptoms. HF disease programs are included in the ESC guidelines as a class I recommendation with level of evidence A to reduce hospitalization This issue is a brief review of HF programmes and analyzes the performance of the first public HF unit in Uruguay and outcomes of its patients
