Abstract

DOS SANTOS MELLO, Thatiana Valory  and  BENEVIDES SOARES, Adriana. SOCIAL SKILLS AND FRUSTRATION IN MEDICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS. Cienc. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.8, n.2, pp.163-172. ISSN 1688-4221.

We investigated the relations between social skills and frustration among Medical students. We evaluated the scores for the freshmen (N = 36) and last year students (N = 35) with the Objective Test of Frustration Resistance (Moura, Pasquali, & Ferreira, 2004), Social Skills Inventory (Del Prette & Del Prette, 2001) and the Empathy Inventory (Falcone et al. 2008). The results showed that there are differences between freshmen and last year students regarding the reaction to frustration, assertivity and empathy when it refers to understanding the perspective and feelings of others and altruism. It was found that for all students if they can overcome the obstacles inherent in their role as medical students, assuming their responsibilities, more social competence leads to a better professional performance
