Abstract

GONZALEZ-TRIJUEQUE, David; GIACHERO, Silvana  and  DELGADO, Sabino. Psychosocial risk in the workplace: theoretical approach and legal framework in Uruguay. Cienc. Psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.1, pp.75-87. ISSN 1688-4221.

In this paper psychosocial risks in the workplace are discussed from a theoretical point of view. In addition, the most frequent issues a psychologist faces in this context are analyzed. This article is aimed at conceptualizing the psychosocial risks in the work context and identifying the most frequent of those risks that might be of relevance for psychologists (e.g. job stress, burnout, mobbing). Additionally, the current legal framework related to these risks in Uruguay is discussed. The relevance of the subject is evidenced by the fact that the risks faced by the workers in their workplace are not just physical in nature. Psychosocial risks are highly important and influence the workers’ health and well being, particularly since stressful conditions can result in physiological and/or psychological conditions. Finally, the importance of psychosocial risks prevention is discussed

Keywords : psychosocial risk; job stress; burnout; mobbing.
