Abstract

AYALA, Walter; SILVEIRA, Yolanda; DUARTE, Jorge  and  GALLO, Andrea. Neurolisis de plexo celíaco en un paciente portador de neoplasma de cabeza de páncreas. Anest Analg Reanim [online]. 2003, vol.18, n.2, pp.24-27. ISSN 1688-1273.

The present work describes a celiac plexus neurolysis procedure in a patient with a pancreas head neoplasm, disseminated, with severe pain and digestive intolerance, and with no good analgesia response to high doses of morphine. The posterior retrocrural technique was used, X-ray guided, administering 12ml of 70% alcohol on each side. During the procedure midazolam, fentanil and Ringer Lactate was administrated. No pain was shown during the administration of the neurolytic solution, and after few minutes the pain symptoms disappeared, proceeding to the gradual suspension of morphine. The only side effect shown was digestive transit alteration. The patient died after 33 days of neurolysis, analgesiated and not receiving opiates. We conclude that this procedure is an efficient option in the control of pain caused by pancreas neoplasm, in patients with poor response to opiates.
