Abstract

CAILLABET, Ana; GONZALEZ, Catherin; LUCAS, Leandro  and  POSE, Guillermo. Case report of neonatal pemphigus vulgaris. Arch. Pediatr. Urug. [online]. 2019, vol.90, n.4, pp.227-229.  Epub Aug 01, 2019. ISSN 0004-0584.  https://doi.org/10.31134/ap.90.4.7.

Pemphigus is a rare autoimmune disease that affects skin and mucous membranes. The main lesions result from acantholysis caused by IgG antibody deposits on the desmosomes’ glycoproteins. In newborns, it is caused by the passive passage of maternal antibodies (IgG) through the placenta. The most frequent pemphigus subtypes in newborns are pemphigus vulgaris and foliaceus. This is a case report of a neonatal pemphigus vulgaris, which evolved to a full remission of the bullous lesions, without the need immunosuppressive treatment.
