Summary The presence of high levels of indirect bilirubin in neonatal period became a public health problem in recent years associated with the high before 72 hours of life and the exclusive breast feeding. The purposes of determining the incidence of reentry for phototherapy newly equal to or greater than 35 weeks gestational age apparently healthy infants without hemolysis in Florida Department of, analyze what factors associated with the need for phototherapy and describe treatment performed in the internment was a descriptive and analytical study of retrospective character. The study period was two years from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2009. Results: we included 18 newborns in the study period which represents 16.2 per thousand of readmissions. Thirteen were male (72.2%) and female (27.8%) 5. Primigravid corresponded to 83.3% and were product of second gestation or more 16.7%. Birth canal was in a vaginal delivery 77.7% and 22.3% by caesarean section. They had 37 weeks gestational age or shorter gestation 9 (50%). The percentage of loss of weight at the time of re-entry varied between 10% and 14.8% of the weight at birth. Conclusions: jaundice is a major cause of hospital readmission newly corresponding to 16.2 per thousand live births in Florida Department of. The presence of jaundice associated high before 72 hours, male sex, gestational age less than 38 weeks, power to exclusive breast and weight loss exceeding 10% of the weight at birth. It is important to properly assess the risk of jaundice and the quality of the food to prevent reentry due to this cause.
