Consulta pediátrica en la primera infancia: una oportunidad para la detección de indicadores de riesgo en el desarrollo emocional. Experiencia de tamizaje e intervención temprana. Arch. Pediatr. Summary This study considers the regular pediatric consultation as the first step to promote infant mental health. Seventy three babies were evaluated during the pediatric regular consultation with ADBB Scale (Alarm Distress Baby Scale, Guedeney 2001) which proposes a systematized observation of the infants between 2 and 24 months, and allows clinicians the prompt detection of risk indicators in the early emotional development. For those babies in whom withdrawal indicators were detected, we offered to pediatricians new resources to implement certain interventions in the pediatric consultation and a second evaluation with ADBB took place five month after the first one. Results: 25% (18 babies) of the babies showed withdrawal indicators in the first evaluation (19% minor and 6% severe). In the second evaluation, infants with withdrawal were reduced to 71% (10 of 14 babies). Conclusions: the application of ADBB Scale in the pediatric consultation enables a more global and systematized perspective of infant development, allowing the early detection of infants with withdrawal and the implementation of interventions within the pediatric regular consultation, increasing the quality of the clinical observation.
