Resumen
CHIESA, Pedro et al. Disfunción ventricular transitoria y reversible posdrenaje de derrame pericárdico en el postoperatorio de cardiopatía congénita. Arch. Pediatr. Urug. [online]. 2011, vol.82, n.4, pp.228-236. ISSN 1688-1249.
We analyzed two complications following the surgical correction of an atrial septal defect in a 7-year old girl who presented two complications. Initially, a delayed presentation with non-specific symptoms: fever, discomfort, loss of appetite, due to a large pericardial effusion. After pericardiocentesis, the patient presented significant global ventricular failure requiring aggressive management, with complete recovery. We describe the clinical, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic evidence and we emphasize the fact that suspicion and early diagnosis are mandatory to prevent cardiac tamponade after surgery for congenital heart disease.
