VOMERO, Alejandra et al. Experiencia docente en la comunidad sobre pandemia de influenza desarrollada con estudiantes de medicina. Arch. Pediatr. Urug. [online]. 2011, vol.82, n.2, pp.104-107. ISSN 1688-1249.
For the pandemic of influenza A H1N1v, the Department of Paediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic (UdelaR) coordinated strategies of extension in conjunction with the Ministry of public health (MSP) and the University of work of Uruguay (UTU) to provide the population with information of the highest quality and simplicity possible in order to disseminate preventive measures of the disease. To this end, seventh year of medicine students accompanied by their teachers attended UTU study centers with activity type workshops for students and teachers of these schools. To assess in an objective way the learning achieved by students of the UTU, the activity collated the same evaluation before and after the same, through multiple choice test with five questions, four of the five had a statistically significant percentage increases. A very positive experience was assessed. Students possessed knowledge prior to its completion, but there were statistically significant increases in almost all the answers, with percentages close to 90%. Extracurricular activities are an excellent tool. They should be used.
