In all pediatric settings the number of children seen that live with life threatening or limiting conditions has increased. According with current international definitions, all these children should benefit from the comprehensive care strategy of Palliative Care (PC). The present review is the P.R.H.C. Pediatric Palliative Care Unit vision, based on literature, experience collected and reflection on practice. Its goal is to be useful for professionals who individually or in work teams have interest in improving care and life quality of these children and their families. It presents tools for reasoning and clinical approach related to the following chapters: I) identification of children that need PC, II) identification of biological, psychological, social and communication problems, III) identification of and respect for children and family's needs, preferences and values, IV) work team, V) communication, VI) decision making. To assure the right to PC, requires health workers training and organizational challenges that health system must take on.
