Summary Introduction: seizures in children are a frequent motive of consult, and there are differences on its study and treatment. In the context of the project "Technological transfer Canada-Uruguay", the task force for the elaboration of clinical practice guideline choose the subject Diagnosis and Treatment of first time seizure in absence of fever. A survey was made in order to know how act in this cases the doctors working in different areas of Centro Hospitalario Pereira Rossell. General objective: identify controversies or uncertainties on the approach of this clinical problem in the hospital. Material and method: a question type survey was designed, anonymous and voluntary. There were distributed 100 surveys in the services of Pediatrics, Emergency, Neuropediatrics and Neonatology. Results: 72 surveys were received. The most solicited exams were: EEG, head tomography, sugar in blood and ionogram. 59,7% would not treat this patients, 34,7% will and 5,6% didn't answer. For the 25 doctors that would treat this patients, 14 would do before, seven after knowing the paraclinic and four did not answer. The more used anticonvulsant were phenobarbital and diphenilhidantoin. 76,4% would hospitalize every children from 1 to 11 months old. 66,7% mentioned difficulties for making the ethiologic diagnosis. 48,6% knew national or foreigner guidelines. Conclusions: there are disagreements and uncertainties in the approach of this clinical problem. This support the usefulness of producing a clinical practice guideline.
