RAMIREZ, MARíA JOSé and GUTIERREZ, STELLA. Evaluación del dolor en niños con drenaje pleural. Arch. Pediatr. Urug. [online]. 2001, vol.72, n.4, pp.276-280. ISSN 1688-1249.
Introduction: pain is an unpleasant subjective experience that happens when tissue damage occurs. In pediatric patients, treatment of pain is not usually considered. Objective: to evaluate pain in patients with pleural drainage to whom a treatment programme is applied and to determine if there is a relationship between pain intensity and sex or age of the children. Methodology: pain was evaluated with the CHEOPS scale and the self-report faces scale. For statistical analyses Fisher and c2 tests were used. Results: analgesia used in children under 5 years of age was appropriate; pain seemed more intense in males, in the first 12 hours of treatment. Children above 5 years showed a higher pain intensity.
