LAMAS, Florencia; NORIA, Sofía and RAMOS, Victoria. The best of the 2021 European Congress of Cardiology. Rev.Urug.Cardiol. [online]. 2022, vol.37, n.1, e401. Epub May 01, 2022. ISSN 0797-0048. https://doi.org/10.29277/cardio.37.1.3.
From August 27th to 30th, 2021, a new edition of the European Congress of Cardiology was held, for the second consecutive year in digital format, to allow the greatest attendance at this event of updating and exchange of knowledge. Using technology as a fundamental tool for realtime transmission, participants from all over the globe were able to access the latest research and learn about the expected clinical practice guidelines, which this time updated the topics of heart failure, pacemakers and resynchronizers, cardiovascular prevention and valvular diseases. Below, we will summarize some of the main works presented:
Angiography after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest without ST-segment elevation: the TOMAHAWK investigators.
Short and optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy after everolimus-eluting cobalt-chromium stent2 acute coronary syndrome. STOPDAPT2 ACS.
Dual antiplatelet therapy after PCI in patients at high bleeding risk. MASTER DAPT.
Implantable loop recorder detection of atrial fibrillation to prevent stroke (the LOOP study): a randomized controlled trial.
EMPEROR Preserved: empagliflozin in heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction.
Implantable cardiac monitors in high risk post infarction patients with cardiac autonomic dysfunction: SMART trial.
Efficacy of LGE MRI guided fibrosis ablation versus conventional catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation: The DECAAF II study.
