The postoperative cardiac surgery takes place successively in intensive, intermediate and conventional care units, and this antecedent will be relevant for the rest our patients’ lives. During this care process, adverse events of different entities may be observed, which originate directly from events or acts that occurred during surgery. In this brief description of the most frequently performed surgeries, the postoperative cardiac surgery physician and the clinical cardiologist are provided with detailed information on what is performed in the surgical block, to facilitate a better understanding of the postoperative patient that helps to detect early inadequate evolutionary elements of different severity.
