Based on the available evidence and work experience of the GEnotipo, Fenotipo y Ambiente de la HiperTensión arterial en el UruguaY (GEFA-HT-UY) cohort, a “step by step” protocol for the acquisition and measurement of the left atrial strain is described, both as a global and segmentary analysis (“bull’s eye” like ) using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography.
