A close integration and cooperation among the different medical areas in charge of patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes are of the outmost importance in order to provide an adequate care. A fast and effective communication between medical personnel who establish the initial medical contact and the referral Centres well as a rapid and coordinated ambulance transportation system are required to ensure appropriate assessment and optimal treatment to these patients. We believe our country gathers rather favorable geographic, administrative and infrastructural conditions towards the creation of a national coordination system for patients with acute coronary syndromes. In this article we propose an efficient and cost effective model of care.
