Abstract

FERNANDEZ BANIZI, PABLO; LUPANO, DIEGO  and  NOSTRANI, SUSANA. Experiencia inicial de extracción percutánea de electrodos endocavitarios de marcapasos y desfibriladores: técnicas y resultados. Rev.Urug.Cardiol. [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.1, pp.29-37. ISSN 1688-0420.

Percutaneous lead extraction in patients with pacemakers or implantable cardio-defibrillators using loking stylets and dilating sheaths had reduced the need for cardiac surgery. The technique is efficacious and safe, with 97% success rate and low complication incidence when the appropriate equipment is used. We show our experience with the first ten extracted leads, including one defibrillator lead, in five patients referred to the Instituto Nacional de Cirugía Cardíaca.
