Abstract

PUENTE, Roberto et al. Tratamiento endourológico de litiasis urinaria: Evaluación de resultados del equipo B de CETELU desde 1998 a 2004. Rev. Méd. Urug. [online]. 2006, vol.22, n.1, pp.22-28. ISSN 0303-3295.

Summary Background. Lithiasis disease is detected in 1 to 5% of the population in developing countries where morbimortality rates are high. Non medical treatment includes: extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy, endo-urologic and percutaneous techniques, and conventional surgery. Methods. There were 345 endo-urologic procedures to treat urolithiasis. Percutaneous nephro-lithotripsy was seen in 93.9%, endoscopic lithotripsy in 4.35% and 0.9% in endo-urologic removal. Results. There was a higher success rate for a one-procedure treatment compared to a previous series probably due to the development of the technique in the last few years. Minor complications with unspecific treatment were predominant, complication rates did not differ from the previous study. Conclusions. It has been proved as an efficient procedure of low risk, with low rate complications and, in order to solve urolithiasis, it allows the use of additional therapeutic procedures.
