Abstract
ARIAS, Sylvia et al. Espondilodiscitis bacterianas inespecíficas. Rev. Méd. Urug. [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.4, pp.321-326. ISSN 1688-0390.
Summary Seven cases of unspecific bacterial spondylodiscitis were analyzed. Patients were detected in the Hospital Maciel in one year: spondylodiscitis was in none of the cases the first diagnosis. Maximum interval between symptoms and diagnosis was nine months. Lack of diagnosis led to multiple studies and stay-in hospital length up to 112 days. Germs, mainly staphylococcus aureus, were isolated from bloodculture in at least half of the cases. Bacteriological study yield of the puncture under computerized axial tomography (TAC) was low compared to international literature, attributable to the number of tests performed (three cases, two under antibiotic treatment). Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and anemia were constant in paracli-nical studies. There was no uniformity in therapeutic behaviors.
