ABSTRACT From the experience of fieldwork in a neighborhood named both as danger or Belvedere City Sugarloaf, Department of Maldonado, Uruguay, is a reflection on the methodology used in the construction and representation of identity. This district is established in a geographical situation shaping its uniqueness in showing various boundary lines where the different stages and juxtapositions show roots from the history and myths, as representations that envision personal identity spaces to be reaffirmed and accomplished in time. From the very rename the neighborhood at various times and significance aroused by establishing codes inhabitants and various representations. The Danger-Belvedere neighborhood of steady growth in recent years is part of a culture where diverse manifestations found a place in the city of Sugar Loaf. Given that this research was to investigate the representations of identity, a reflection arises through some examples that account for this construction and ways of doing ethnography.
