The results of participatory action research conducted by the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes (UNQ), Buenos Aires, Argentina, on socioeconomic food circuits of the popular, social and solidarity economy and family farming are presented. These experiences show that access to healthy food is possible in more plural and decentralized markets, democratizing the agri-food matrix. In the current Argentine context of crisis and concentration, they represent key, but still fragile, strategies. Based on cases in the Province of Buenos Aires, the article analyzes the challenges of sustainability and the role of public policies in strengthening it.
