The article aims to discuss the status of work and remuneration in platform labor, and from there observe how the definitions of the situation around this question are constructed by the actors in the world of labor (State, employers and workers), being that these are found in areas where it is difficult to establish agreements on what labor is in this context, and how labor institutions can understand and adapt to provide a framework of intelligibility to what happens there. The discussion on the regulation of platform labor currently processed in Uruguay offers the opportunity to observe the threads of meaning around the status of labor and remuneration in the digital economy, and the challenges it poses to the union movement.
