NION CELIO, Soledad y FAGUNDEZ D’ANELLO, Daniel. Working conditions, risks and teleworking in Uruguay. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2025, vol.38, n.56, e214. Epub 01-Jun-2025. ISSN 0797-5538. https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v38i56.2.
Since its expansion in 2020, teleworking has exacerbated some trends in terms of organization, working conditions, and health risks of workers, making it necessary to be able to discern those intrinsic issues that have to do with the forms its implementation takes. Technological changes and the experience of digitalization are analyzed as a new materiality, which involves the ways in which it is inserted as a modality in specific work contexts. The findings highlight how teleworking intensifies the duality of labor flexibility: on the one hand, as an advantage that allows the conciliation between personal and work life; on the other, as a factor that intensifies work and makes disconnection difficult. Likewise, associated psychosocial risks are identified, such as social isolation, stress derived from self-management, and the lack of collective support in solving work problems. Its legislation does not ignore issues inherent to power asymmetries in employment or dependency relations.
