VIZCAINO DE LA TORRE, Andrea. Narrating oneself into adulthood. Echoes and ruptures in the narratives of gender identity and adulthood among working women in Montevideo. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2024, vol.37, n.55, e308. Epub 01-Dic-2024. ISSN 0797-5538. https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v37i55.10.
The present article explores cultural narratives related to gender and work that Uruguayan women negotiate as they reconstruct their transition to adulthood. Through 33 retrospective interviews conducted in 2019, a reflective and intentional use of cultural narratives about work, gender, and adulthood is identified, resulting in innovations of meaning. Additionally, the article examines the emergence of adulthood trajectories segmented according to occupational differences.
