Abstract

ELIZONDO, Marisol Ochoa. Criminalities in Tamaulipas. An analysis of the criminal reorganizations: 2013-2021. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2023, vol.36, n.53, pp.37-61.  Epub Dec 01, 2023. ISSN 0797-5538.  https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v36i53.2.

In recent years Mexican criminal logics and specifically Tamaulipas drug cartels have developed new modalities of incursions into their operational spaces, affecting the relations between the political, social and security fields, modifying the criminal dynamics, expanding territorial controls and innovating their cooptation models systems, implementing new strategies based in radical violence and intimidation as main resources to strengthen their control spaces and conspiracy nets. The criminal groups, have been capable to develop new economical illegal resources, such as migrant traffic, contraband gasoline trade, extortion and kidnapping, that allowed them to threaten local institutions and civil population. Criminal opportunities are increasing, as well as the rise of tension between different drug cartels fractions, that in recent years are fighting to control strategic routes, stablishing alliances with local and outsider criminal groups, destabilizing local spaces and increasing gray areas where corruption and institutional weakness grows and strengthens.
