Abstract

PATERNAIN, Rafael. Speeches, experiences and policies. Theoretical explorations on the victims of crime. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2022, vol.35, n.50, pp.15-37.  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 0797-5538.  https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v35i50.1.

Crime victims have gained centrality in contemporary social life. Its study requires a significant conceptual effort from sociology, since the scales of suffering must be reconstructed in the midst of the heterogeneity of discourses, experiences, and responses. In this sense, we propose the existence of three dimensions for dealing with victims: the passive dimension, where the narratives and discourses that create and sustain the victims are processed; the reactive dimension, which encompasses the experiences of victimization, the emotions and the feelings that shape the heterogeneity of the testimonies; and finally, the creative dimension, which refers to the formation of mobilizations and collective actions to process the pain left by crime.

Keywords : victims; crimes; speeches; experiences; recognition.
